Day 2 of the 2009 NFL Draft

April 26th, 2009 · No Comments

This is when teams are made folks.
Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round of his draft. The best QB of our time was what some would consider an after-thought.
I am still watching 3 of my 5.
Michael Thomas of Arizona

Ramses Barden out of Cal-Poly SLO.

Eric Kettani, Naval Academy

Jets traded up to [...]

Curry has class.

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

Nicest moment I saw from this year’s first round of the NFL Draft was Wake Forest and Seattle Seahawk #4 pick Aaron Curry with 12-year old Bryson Merriweather.
Bryson is a leukemia survivor,  and Curry invited him to be a guest of his at the draft.

You can read about the story posted on the SI website.
It [...]

UConn has 4 players drafted on Day 1!

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

I guess the success of Gino and Calhoun has spread to the gridiron squad up in Storrs.

UConn had 4 players picked in on the first day, all ironically whose surnames start with B.
Donald Brown, RB, who went with the 27th pick in the first round to the Colts.

Darius Butler, DB, who went with the 9th [...]

The Wildcat just got Wilder (or Pat White)

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

Miami Dolphins just selected Pat White.
2nd round pick, 44th pick overall.
A winner at West Virginia.

The Wildcat just got wilder. This is a supreme pick.
I’ll see this guy twice a year in the AFC East. My goodness, this is chess.

Alphonso Smith, Jr. has been drafted by the Broncos

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

The second of my five players that I am highlighting in the 2009 NFL draft was selected.

Alphonso Smith, Jr, defensive back from Wake Forest was the second round pick of the Denver Broncos. I predict he will make All-Rookie, and strongly push for AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Chung drafted by Patriots

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

Patrick Chung, a safety out of Oregon was the first selction of the New England Patriots. Chung, who was a very productive player for the Ducks during his career, is bi-racial. His father is Chinese-Jamaican, and his mother is Jamaican.

The Chinese people are all over the world. Never doubt that.  The Pats are a smart [...]

Moreno a Bronco.

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

Another surprise for me in the 2009 draft is the Knowshown Moreno pick to the Denver Broncos at pick 12.

Moreno, a 3rd year sophmore out of Georgia, is a good back. I am surprised that Josh McDaniel choose to go running back at this spot. He’s not following the Bill Belichick mode of picks.
I am [...]

Matthews goes to the Packers

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

So, the first of my five to watch as been drafted.

Clay Matthews III has been drafted by the Green Bay Packers. The former USC Trojan will have a 20-year career in the NFL. I will keep close tabs on this guy’s career. He went from walk-on to starter in his 5-year college career. Look at [...]

First bust of the 2009 NFL draft.

April 25th, 2009 · No Comments

Darius Heyward-Bey will not have a great career with the Oakland Raiders.

I amsure he’s a great kid, and I am happy that he’s gonna get paid and take care of his family.
And he will not do well with the Raiders. Let’s check in 36 months.  He went to a toxic organization.
