Father’s Day thoughts.

Being a parent is the toughest job out there.

Even if you are a a badass, you really learn how wicked and evil and tough the world is, and that you want to protect your child from it. I think it’s natural.

Of course there are extreme cases where this is not evident. In my experience I have witnessed that low-income people usually do not give a fuck and will let their children experience everything such as staying out late at night in obvious violent and crime-ridden areas.

Then, when their kids get killed, they boo-hoo and scream, and say end the violence.

I say why did you let your kid at night in those areas?

I am not talking about genuine accidents. That random shit that takes place too often for our comfort.

I am talking about letting your kid out late at night—ON A SCHOOL NIGHT! There are too many stories to point out, especially living in a city like New York.

No sympathy for those folks. Sorry.

On the flip side, poor people are only matched by rich people in stupidity. They do the same thing as their opposite on the other end of the financial spectrum. While their kids do not end up in shoot-outs and drive-byes, they end up in drunk driving accidents.

Once again, if you buy your kid a car at 16, and then let them out at all hours of the night, what do you expect?

No, don’t think I am a fan of over-protection. That’s even worse, though it does insure that your kid will make it to adulthood.

What happens after that, well it’s anybody’s guess as sheltered, maladjusted people will prove to be the opposite of the self-centered, idiotic people that were abused and neglected by their parents.

Either style is not conducive to a great society.

No solutions here folks, just venting.

Happy Father’s Day to my Dad, the Big E! He was the one that kept me from being out late at night!

I love you Daddy. We don’t talk much and I love you. Thanks for all that you have done for me.

And to my 10-year old boy, and my 25-year old man, thanks for making me a proud Father. You guys are the best.
