So, this was the USC-OSU game everyone was talking about!

The Oregon State Beavers pulled off their usual magic tonight and shocked the college football world by beating the #1 ranked USC Trojans in a rare Thursday night Pac-10 game in Reser stadium in beautiful Corvalis, Oregon.

And I thought the USC-OSU game was two weeks ago.

It was the Trojans third loss in four attempts in Corvalis.

This is why college football was THE GAME! THE SPORT! at the turn of the last century.

And at this time of the year, in most of America, it still is.

The Beavers were led by the Rodgers brothers, James and Jacquizz, who hail from Richmond, Texas (that’s outside of Houston Daddy). Jacquizz who holds the Texas High School Record for touchdowns (136 career, 43 in his senior year) housed the Trojans defense for over 100 yards rushing–#1 had 113 yards in the first half, and 186 for the game, on 37 carries.

Remember, this is a short guy.

Coming into the game, the vaunted Trojans D had given up only 197 yards total a game.

Jacquizz’s older brother, James scored two receiving touchdowns, one at the end of the half which hit a Trojan DB in the hands.

It was so cool to see the older James going into motion to seal the defensive ends on those inside zone plays. He was giving up at least a foot in height, and 100 pounds in weight to blocks for his younger brother.

The Beavers did have to hang on though. They got the ball at the start of the 3rd quarter. After a punt, the Trojans went for it on 4th and 9 on their first drive, converted, and later scored. They scored on a future possession in the quarter to raise the blood pressure of Mike Riley, his Beavers, and all their fans.

Just when we thought the Trojans would not be beat, and even the SFP blog did not pick this game even though 2 of their favorite short players were in the game, they go out and get beat.

The Trojans committed a lot of penalties, and they had the ball run down their throat! USC did everything they could to physically intimidate the 2 brothers and those guys were not fazed. I am sure the Trojans DB’s, who were huge in size compared to #1 and #8, had to remark that the two J’s have heart and ability bigger than their bodies.

Credit to Riley, his staff, and the players, especially the O-line. They blocked very well for Jacquizz and the quarterback, Lyle Moevao. The Beavers protected the ball, and were not fazed by the big, bad, speedy Trojans.

Congrats to OSU! Can you believe that classes have not started in Corvalis? They are on a quarter system and classes don’t start until September 28.

What a party taking place at Reser Stadium.
